Our Trip to Lancaster PA

Steven took the day off from work yesterday, we kind of needed a r&r day. So we took a ride to Lancaster PA. Its north west of where we live. Amish country. The clouds were peeking in and out all day.

Along the way we met some cows:

And I just couldn't resist taking this picture of this bay Alpaca.

DSCF0862  Just so cute I wanted to take it home.. “Not so much”, says Steven.

I just love seeing the horse and buggies..

Last but not least, I got some new Giraffes at the gift shop at the Shady Maple.

The first one is the bigger one of the baby one I have, the second one has real fur on it and stands about a foot tall. The third picture is a close up of that one and the last one is a little one inch giraffe carved out of stone.

All in all it was a wonderful day. It was nice getting out, and it was nice getting home.

This is Totally Off Topic

I have to say, we went to a family reunion, Steven’s side of the family, this past June. The usual food was served, except for one thing that I never had, and was totally enjoying it, so I thought I would share it with you. We have made it quite a few times already. Its good for a snack, a meal, it also stores well… if you can keep it around that long!!!

7 Layer Salad

Layer the following either on a tray, or I use a 13x9x2 glass baking dish:

1 can refried beans

1 8oz container sour cream

1 small can chopped olives

2 diced tomatoes

1/4 chopped red onions, or scallions

1 small head iceberg lettuce, shredded

8 oz of shredded jack or monterrey or cheddar cheese.

Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!!!
